Listservs are email lists. Some are used to simply send out periodic announcements
and other timely information (e.g. newsletters). Others are actually discussion lists
where subscribers can carry on "conversations" by sending email to a special email
address. Each email sent to this address is broadcast out to all subscribers once
the post has been approved by the list Moderator. This allows subscribers to
"discuss" various topics pertinent to the focus of the listserv although not in
real-time.
